Outstanding features of Bhatt’s style are his natural ability to play the ‘Tantrakari Ang’ and incorporate the ‘Gayaki Ang’ on the Mohan Veena. With his sheer virtousity and limitless supply of melodied, he won the highest music award of the world, the Grammy Award, along with Ry Cooder in 1994 for his world music album, ‘A Meeting By The River’, establishing him as a star perfomer, innovator and soulful composer.

Vishwa Mohan Bhatt has attracted the international attention by his indianization of western Hawaiian Guitar with perfect assimilation of the Sitar, Sarod and Veena techniques, by giving it a revolutionary design and shape by adding 14 additional strings. With blinding speed and faultless legato, Bhatt is undoubtedly one of the most expressive, versatile and greatest slide players of the world. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt has performed extensively in the USA, Canada, U.K, Australia, U.A.E, U.S.S.R, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Israel, Switzerland, Norway, Singapore, etc. His performances are highly acclaimed all over the world.

Apart from being a star performer, Bhatt is a master collaborator too. He has combined with Chinese Erhu player, Jei-Bing_Chen to become the first ever Indian tostrike a Jugalbandi a Chinese artist in the long history of India and China. Hehas also combined with ace American Dorbo guitar player, Jerry Douglas, with the American country music singer, Taj Mahal and a rare combination with Arabian Ud player Siomn Shaheen. All these recordings have been realesed in the USA and Europe, and are setting new sales records, He has also composed “Music for Relaxation” for Music TOday. “Meghdootam” (sung by top-notch Indian singers Hariharan & Kavitha Krishnamurthy) a Sanskrit epic poem has been composed and recorded for the first time by Vishwa. He has composed music for  the Bollywood art movie ‘Bawander’ and his music has been incorporated in the Hollywood movie ‘Dead Man Walking’. He has recently recorded a music album for his son, Saurabh V. Bhatt, which has been appreciated all over the world.

His latest creation is a new instrument, the Vishwa Veena, which has 35 strings.
